Jharkhand Man Shashi Kumar Held in Dubai Jail for Four Months, Father Seeks Centre’s Help
A 23-year-old man from Jharkhand’s Palamu district has been in Dubai’s Al Rashidiya Jail for four months. His family alleges an agent was involved in his failed return to India and has appealed to the government for legal assistance.
Shashi had travelled to Dubai in 2025 to work on a contract basis for a private company. He wanted to return to India to attend his sister’s wedding, according to his family. However, he has remained in jail for four months, leaving his family waiting for his return.
According to the police, Shashi is accused of leaving his job without properly informing the company and paying an agent to facilitate his return to India. Following this, he allegedly remained absent from work for seven consecutive days. In connection with these allegations, he is currently being held at Al Rashidiya Jail in Dubai.
Shashi’s father, Lalan Paswan, has appealed to the Indian government to intervene and help bring his son back to India. He said Shashi had gone to Dubai in 2025 to work for a private company and that the family had been waiting for his return for a long time.
Shashi’s wife, Sumitra, has also sought assistance from the authorities. She alleged that her husband became trapped because of the agent and urged officials to provide him with legal assistance and facilitate his return to India.
Meanwhile, the Palamu police have forwarded the family’s application to senior officials and initiated an investigation into the matter. The family is seeking government intervention to address Shashi’s situation and secure legal support for his return from Dubai.
